Tanzania’s Security Wings On High Alert On Inputs Of Potential Terror Attack

Tanzania’s Parliamentary Defence and Security Committee has a crisis meeting recently alerting all the top security organs following information an international terrorist group is planning an attack.

Earlier eight policemen of Kibiti District were killed by gunmen and the attack had been highly debated pointing doubts on national security.

According to police the gunmen are still hiding in Dar es Salaam and if believed to sources the terror network is reported hiring people, training them and radicalising the youths in the Coastal region, Tanga, Lindi and Zanzibar.

It is said connection is found between the recent killings of policemen and similar attack on July 5, 2015, when Sitakishari Police Station was stormed by armed gang Four policemen were killed in the attack and the attackers disappeared with 17 guns.

The gang which is based in Amboni caves in Tanga is being suspected to have been directly involved in the latest attacks.

Last year Mohammad Abdallah was shot dead by police as he was believed to have connection to the Tanga killings.

It is learned youths in great number are being recruited to Al Shabaab and ISIS from Kibiti, Rufiji and Mkuranga districts.

Security sources added, “Some are being trained in local camps in the forests and some are being taken to countries with powerful terrorist organizations like Somalia.”

The coastal regions are more preferred by the International terror organizations in recruiting youths in their fighter and attacker team.

It has been also reported the terror organizations are recruiting children too in their military.
